I realized I did not review Mr. Baum, his services rendered to me a few years ago involved a complex series of legal issues including a divorce. He was able to resolve the complex issues, including one that another local law firm (more expensive and supposedly "better" law firm") had failed miserablely on. He also charged less than the other firm, but most importantly he did not fail. I would use him again if needed but I am very hopeful I never need him again! Thanks ?????

I had the privilege of working with Attorney Dorian Baum out of Lancaster, Ohio, during a critical custody case involving my 12-year-old daughter. While I had my own attorney, Mr. Baum was appointed to represent my daughter directly because the Guardian ad Litem did not align with her clearly stated wishes.

From the very beginning, Dorian was an outstanding professional. He was incredibly articulate, well-prepared, and commanded the respect of the court every time he spoke. His presence and advocacy not only gave my daughter a true voice in the courtroom but completely turned our case around. In large part due to his efforts, I was awarded full custody of my daughter-something that seemed unlikely before his involvement.

Custody cases can be one of the most stressful things a parent has to endure. Putting the fate of your child into the hands of a system with many moving parts, many of which are out of your control, and entrusting them with people you don't know, nor have reason to outright trust...it takes a lot out of you. If it has reached this point, your life has likely already been turned upside down, and trust has eroded with the person you had all the reason in the world to trust the most. Thus, knowing who you can and cannot trust becomes an invaluable resource for having some semblance of peace of mind when it comes to your children's future.

If your children have the fortune of having Mr. Baum appointed as their Guardian ad Litem then, to assuage those fears of whom you can trust, you can rest assured knowing your children are in caring and capable hands, as he will absolutely and truly advocate for their best interests every step of the way, especially if they are too young to advocate for themselves.

From the outset, Mr. Baum made it exceedingly clear to all parties that he doesn't believe any parent, through virtue of their gender alone, is more capable than another for caring for or meeting the needs of their child. Thus, parents can also trust that they will begin the process on equal grounds.

Mr. Baum is especially adept at cutting through the fog that often mires high conflict cases, finding the truth within, and bringing that truth to light before the Court. Thus, parents can trust that while justice may be blind, the Court does have eyes and ears in the form of the Guardian ad Litem, and Mr. Baum will ensure all parents are seen and heard through the scope of the children's best interest.

Again, if you've found yourself here, things did not work out in the way you may have hoped, and you are likely surrounded by a constant shroud of uncertainty, both for the present and in the future. And having been in your position, I can attest that there are no shortage of horror stories out there when it comes to custody cases and GAL's, which only serves to fuel that fear of uncertainty even more. So with that being said, the one solace I can offer you is that while you may be surrounded by uncertainty right now, one less thing to be uncertain about is if you children are in good hands, as you will be hard pressed to find another GAL with staff more fiercely dedicated to and proficient in their craft.

Dorian Baum is one of the best attorneys I have worked with. He was very helpful and offered to assist with multiple areas of ny divorce that I had not even requested or thought of. The only minor negative, if it can be called a negative, is that he is so busy that his responses are occasionally delayed. Overall about 98% of my questions and concerns were answered and/or completely resolved with exception of some issues the opposing counsel was either reluctant, unwilling, or in my opinion too incompetent to take the time to respond to. So far they have done everything under the sun to help me and my children on a 10yr old mistake I made as a dumb kid. They always answer my calls and emails and try their very best to get answers for me. They are amazing lawyers and even better people. Seem to treat everyone paid or appointed the same. Our experience with Dorian spans over almost a decade. We (my son & I) first met him at the free legal clinic where we came in desperate and clueless facing false accusations without any idea of how to navigate the court system. We ended up retaining him for what would become a very contentious custody battle. We went through repeated false allegations against multiple family members (incl innocent children) and attempts at multiple emergency orders by opposing party (which were never granted) over a span of several years. At one point mom had a suspended jail sentence due to all of her contempt charges and my son ended up with 50/50 and named residential parent for school placement. It was in no way an easy battle. It was emotional, daunting, exhausting ... but Dorian always stayed prepared and kept us informed giving us hope that truth and justice would prevail. Fast forward several years, my son is back in court for his youngest daughter- but in a county Dorian doesn't practice in (we definitely checked!) We are facing many of the same obstacles and have used two different attorneys (so far) who in no way compare to the representation Dorian provided. We were always grateful for Dorian but being able to compare him to others makes us even more grateful. No one has been able to hold a candle to the passion he provided. He didn't just show up for billable hours and leave us feeling perplexed on issues that seem blatantly wrong without offering any insight or direction. Comparing the two cases, which almost seem to mirror each other, the experiences have been polar opposite. Dorian made us feel seen, heard, and protected. I truly believe if we had him in the current county that things would have gone better. Should we ever need representation in Fairfield County, he is our go to. I highly recommend him and would advise you to consider that while his rate may be higher than others -the cliche "you get what you pay for" applies here!
